Our Mission

So that enlightenment and literacy may flourish in our society. The SLLB will dedicate itself to collecting and disseminating an array of information and ideas that is diverse in nature, varied in format and rich in view point.

Our Vision

I envision the SLLB as a doorway to opportunity, self-development and recreation for the public, and as a forum where they may share ideas, cultures and resources among themselves and with the outside world.

Our Mandate

Sierra Leone Library was established by Ordinance/Act of Parliament in 1959 to establish, equip, manage and maintain public libraries in Sierra Leone. The board has 25 public libraries in all the Districts and Regional Headquarters/Cities in the Country.

It is my honor to welcome you to our library’s digital home—a space where knowledge, culture, and community converge. As Chief Librarian, I believe that libraries are more than repositories of books; they are living gateways to discovery, dialogue, and transformation.
